Hello all. We are thinking of relocating to Pembrokeshire, probably Narberth area, next year and need to find a good 6th form for my son. Can anybody please give me any advice/reviews. Thanks.

My dd is much younger, but I know people speak well of the teaching/options at Pembrokeshire college in Haverfordwest. Preseli 6th form also has very good results but I guess would only be an option if your son is a Welsh speaker (though science/maths subjects are taught in English).

Do you think it's that bad, hotair? I've got plenty of friends with 6th form age dc, and they all seem happy enough. Outing myself a bit, but I know kids that age at/recently left from Preseli, Bro Gwaun, Pembs college & all seem to have got decent results & gone off to do interesting things. The teenagers round here generally seem charming and motivated, too, compared to when I was that age in the midlands, though of course that may be due to the 30 years that have passed Grin

Friends' kids have done/are doing pretty well at Dewi Sant, but it's a very small sixth form. Always thought Pembrokeshire College looked liked it had a good range of courses.

Dyffryn taf is an option. Smallish school with family feel. Has kids off to oxbridge, medical and vet college, and plenty of other places. Not a huge range of courses. I think if you visit all the alternatives you will know what is the best fit.

Yes, I'd agree with the advice to visit. Certainly our two nearest are very different in feel, so really no substitute for visiting & seeing what your son thinks.
