Colchester comprehensives

Can anyone recommend me a secondary school in or close to Colchester for DS2. He is good at Maths, weaker at English, musical, likes sport but is not first team standard. Although fairly bright, he is easily distracted. Any thoughts please?

Looking to move! Currently unhappy with DS primary so prepared to move him to a feeder primary of the right secondary for year 5. Need to have a resonable communte to CCHS for DD.

How about Honywood in Coggeshall?

The Gilberd?

Is the Gilberd the school where the boys are dressed to go to a funeral everyday?

For either of these schools, can you tell me if they take their options in year 8 or year 9? My local secondary at the moment is year 8 and I personally think this is too early, especially for DS2.
