uniform problem

DD is due to start secondary in Sept and we were chuffed that the school uniform was a polo shirt and no tie. Now it has been announced it is changing to a white blouse, a clip on tie and vneck pullover.

DD has sensory issues which mean she gags and sometimes throws up if any piece of clothing is too tight around her neck. I was wondering if anyone knows of a girls blouse that would be looser but still be acceptable with a clip on tie.

Our school makes an exception for some children allowing them to have a top button undone or you could get a bigger shirt.

My dd wears a tie. She couldn't stand the feel of the M&S shirts around her neck but finds Next ones much better.

Can you get your hands on an old non clip on tie? How about buying a slightly bigger shirt or moving the button so it is not too tight?
Contact SENCO for advice?

Thanks for your advice. It is just a new uniform so cannot get a non clip type. I will probably ask my mum to move the button... I cannot sew :(

DD2 just went for much bigger shirts (BHS) that were short sleeved - she hates anything round neck. Luckily her v-neck is soft sweatshirt material.

Ask the school why they are forcing girls to wear an item of men's clothing and suggest girls are allowed a cravat type looser tie but also ask to speak to the SENCO

Talk to the SENCO.

Can you get a GP letter about previous medical investigations which showed it is related to constriction (not another condition) and needs no other consideration than loose necklines.

I hope they can find you a proper tie. Clip ons usually look bad anyhow, and would look dreadful on a collar bigger than usual fit.

My dds wear a tie at primary school (all the local Junior schools have them) but there is no tie for girls at the high school where they will go. When we looked around they mentioned that they are due a uniform change, so I am hoping they don't decide to bring in ties for girls!

If you got a loser necked shirt, could you take the clip off the tie and put elastic on it?
