Appeals question

Wonder if any one can help, appeal for high school unsuccessful - 10 appealed 2 that I know of won so that takes admissions to 202 at least - 200 was the max to be admitted. Will move next week to within catchment area so will also move up the waiting list. 2 pupils who were allocated places in March are moving out of the area and will be giving up their places - one is going to Spain and the other moving over 200 miles away so that will take the total of admissions back down down to 200.

Will any places be offered to children on the waiting list or will the total number admitted need to be under 200 before any more places are offered?

If appeals takes the school over the PAN (planned admission number - in this case 200), no more offers will be made until there is a space below the PAN - ie at 199 they will offer 1 place.

You may not move up the waiting list. A friend is in a similar situation and hasn’t moved places because of it.

200 is a strange admission number. Usually it is a number divisible by 3 to allow 30 in a class, eg 180, 210 etc. Does 200 mean the school already plans for 33 in 4 classes and 34 in the other 2? If so, these numbers are already high. Just curious.

it was 180 changed last year to 200 it is a very oversubscribed school, I was surprised that only 10 were appealing!, Moving house will def help on moving up the waiting list as currently out of catchment, they changed the entrance criteria this year and 6 places were allocated to out of catchment children , currently 10th on the list but moving will push us up to the top 3
