MRC vs Woolmer Hill vs Bohunt

Help! Does anyone here have children at any of these three schools and able to give a parents view on them. We're veering towards Bohunt, but as we are just over the border in West Sussex, DD may not get in. We looked at Woolmer Hill today and we really liked what we saw.

Any reviews of these schools would be really welcome. :-)

Don't have kids at any of them personally, but Bohunt has had a policy that any child applying is accepted - don't know if this is changing next year because the school is growing so quickly, but if you put Bohunt down there's a good chance you'll get a place.

Don't know MRC, but Woolmer Hill has a good reputation and parents I know there seem happy. Bohunt is an odd one, it is huge and the class sizes are big as well especially the top sets, which really puts some families off, pastoral care from what I've heard is hit and miss. I think it is a bit like marmite, people go and look and they either love it or hate it. As to be fair it does get the results and there is a lot going on as it's a big school.

Have two kids at Woolmer Hill, both very happy. It is a very nurturing school and the teachers get to know the kids really well. DS was the only one from his school to go and settled in very quickly and has lots of new friends. It has fantastic sports facilities and a brilliant creative arts department and fantastic grounds. Would highly recommend!

As a pupil who is just finishing their 5 years at Woolmer Hill, I would 100% not recommend this school. It's full of unnecessary and arbitrary rules warping pupils' idea of self worth and position in society. Because of this school my mental health has been completely destroyed and I'm left with severe anxiety and depression caused by this school. Not all pupils have had this experience but I know so many who can't bare the thought of coming into school.

Hi I just read your reply and it broke my heart to hear that you had to feel like that throughout school. I'm trying to decide where to send my son when I stumbled upon this thread and I know it was 2 years ago so you probably won't see this but if you do I'd like to wish you a happier future and ask you if you feel any better now? It's tragic that a clearly intelligent teen has been made to feel so worthless and unhappy and that you didn't have support around you to lift your spirits and help you regain your inner strength. I really really hope that college was a better experience for you xx if you do read this I would love to hear back from you as I know all too well the damage depression and anxiety can cause xx
