Gordon's School, Woking - new admissions criteria

Hi

We live quite close to Gordon's but still probably no chance of getting in. I will be applying for DS this autumn for 2015 entry and noticed they have changed their admissions criteria slightly for Siblings. I'm a bit confused as to what the difference is between b, c and e criteria. Criteria b seems to be all siblings but c and e are siblings on distance. I was hoping there might be a better chance of getting in!

It looks to me like they are phasing in a distance criteria with siblings in such a way that families with a child there now won't 'lose out.'

It won't make any difference to the year group to which you would be applying but for the following years there would be a declining number of siblings with priority until all the families with a child there now have left.

After that time it would be siblings in 1000m, then other children within 1000m then siblings outside of 1000m then distance.

b. Children who have an older sibling on roll at Gordon’s on 31st October 2014.

A sibling is defined as a child who has a brother or sister or a half brother or sister, adopted or fostered brother or sister or step brother or sister living as part of the same family unit at the same address, Monday to Friday.

c. For new families joining from September 2015, children who have an older sibling on roll at Gordon’s on 31st October in the calendar year preceding the date of admission or at the time of admission, who live within a 1000m radius of the school main entrance.

d. Children on the basis of the shortest radial distance from the home address to the school within a radius of 1000m. Distance from the school is measured from the pupil’s home address to the school main entrance.

e. Children who have an older sibling on roll at Gordon’s on 31st October in the calendar year preceding the date of admission or at the time of admission, who live outside a 1000m radius of the school main entrance.

f. Children on the basis of the shortest radial distance from the home address to the school outside a radius of 1000m. Distance from the school is measured from the pupil’s home address to the school main entrance.

Great, thanks, that makes sense. Might benefit people in a few years then.

Were you able to secure a place for your DS?
