13+ verbal reasoning and NVR

DS has to take an IQ test in about 6 months time, which includes verbal reasoning, non verbal reasoning, and quantitative reasoning. I thought I'd buy some practise papers to give him some idea, but I can't find any, they're all 11+

Any ideas? obviously, he could practise the 11+, but wouldn't they be too easy?

i'd have thought an IQ test would just be that, no need for previous practice just turn up for the test? i could be wrong, is it for a school ?

LIZS · 29/05/2014 18:19

is this a pre-test? Do the school have any online you can view.

Suki2 · 29/05/2014 18:47

Non online, Lizs; it's for entry to boarding school in year 9. I think an IQ test is essentially something you can't swot up for , Gunznroses, but I"m also aware that people do prepare for the 11+ tests using Bond books, tutors etc.

I just don't want DS to be exposed to something he has no idea about, and for which other people have prepared for, if you see what I mean.

If preparation isn't necessary, it would be one less thing to worry about!

dc did the CATs and Pips type tests as preparation throughout prep school and some from CGP in preparation for 11+/13+. Not sure how readily available these are though.

LIZS · 29/05/2014 18:51

which school btw ? They all differ.

Gunznroses · 29/05/2014 19:18

I think all you can do it try and go through as many of the 11+ ones as possible, i've never seen any for 13+ because generally its not required at that stage except for pre-tests e.g Eton etc you will have to make do with the 11+ ones. There are so many and its difficult to find the one that's at the right level but that's the best you can do.

The Bond papers are called 11+ but they do have some marked 12 and 13+ within that range. Even if you can only find 11+ ones they would be better than nothing, I would have thought.

Thanks for the replies, particularly about googling for 13+ entrance exams; I have found some for various schools, and a search of 13+ books didn't reveal those.

Thanks, HmmmAnOxfordComma, I will use the Bond papers, which do seem to cater for his age.

Now to find the time to look at all these!

13+ verbal reasoning and non verbal reasoning test papers, can't find them anywhere? Help, 2 weeks to go!

weary12 · 31/01/2017 11:24

Don't the bond papers do an age 12-13 one?
