Not happy! My daughter's school in rugby nullifies GCSE Computing

I can't believe it. Right at the start of the exam season and out of the blue, my daughter's gcse (all Year 11 girls computer gcse) is cancelled due to a complete lack of care by the school. What can I do about it? Can I appeal directly to the exam board or ofsted? This is one of the "best" grammar school's in rugby supposedly but that is rubbish. There was no warning at all of this.

What do you mean. Cancels? Is it as it won't count in best 8 measuring?

sunbathe · 25/05/2014 12:18

What's their reasoning?!

intheenddotcom · 25/05/2014 15:18

Why have they cancelled?

The exam board will simply say you have to find a center willing to take your daughter on - though at this stage it maybe too late for entries.

adoptmama · 25/05/2014 16:01

Not sure what you mean. Have they entered them? I'd presume you got a letter/statement earlier in the year with the subjects she was entered for listed. Was it there? Have they simply cancelled any further teaching - with study leave about to start. Have they screwed up and not done the exam entries?

It would be hard, if not impossible, to enter her at this point if she has not already been entered for the exam. If she has been entered I cannot understand why the school would not run the exam. But if they have entered her you could possibly find a near by school which would accept her in as an external candidate.

You need to contact the school to clarify exactly what has happened, find out which exam board curriculum she is following, find out if she was entered and then talk to the LEA, school and exam board asap to find out what can be done about this.

the exam fees were all paid in March.
Something does not add up about your post.

LynetteScavo · 25/05/2014 16:25

I'm not following your OP.

The school I think you are talking about is not one of the "best" grammar school's in rugby supposedly - it's supposed to be one of the best grammar schools on the country (according to some).

I can tell you are very angry, but you need to calm down and tell us exactly what's happened. What do you mean by complete lack of care by the school?

JohnnyBarthes · 28/05/2014 12:50

So what happened OP? (not that I think they're coming back)

Onesleeptillwembley · 28/05/2014 13:14

OP comes in. Tells tall tale with no details. Doesn't come back.
That's a new one.

LynetteScavo · 28/05/2014 13:49

Odd thread indeed!

Cerisier · 29/05/2014 14:13

Very odd. OP are you coming back with more info?
