Headington every time. I grew up in the Thames Valley and Queen Anne's was for the posh girls who weren't bright enough for Kendrick/Abbey. I'm informed by friends in the area that little has changed. Headington has a solid, all round good reputation.

Thanks SheherezadeSchadenfreude, it's funny, but a friend said a very similar thing to me this morning. She said that Queen Anne's comes across as a bit snobby and less diverse than Headington. I wonder if anyone else has some view on this too.

I was at QAS, there was absolutely nothing snobbish (and very little posh) about it, and I have very happy memories of my 7 years there. I am still in touch with numerous friends, and got straight A/Bs all through and went to Edinburgh university. I did, btw, also get into the Abbey but my parents preferred QAS. 90% of my year group went to uni so I don't think you could really say we weren't bright.

admittedly that is all rather in the past now ! But I do know a couple of people with dds there and they are extremely happy with the school.

i have no experience of Headington so can't comment.

Thanks Tempo - you've given me a lot of useful feedback to think about.

Visit both and see which "feels" the better fit for your DD. Smile

My DD is at QAS. We are not posh. DD is def bright enough for Abbey or Kendrick but they are both fiercely academic and we wanted to put her somewhere more nurturing as she lacks confidence in her own abilities. She is thriving at QAS.

The headmistress is inspirational.

Yes there are some posh but dim girls but less so as the entrance exams are becoming more stringent and I know of several disappointed families whose daughters haven't got places this year.

Visit both - do not rely on sweeping generalisations and hearsay.

I got offers from the Abbey and QAS, and chose QAS. I then read Lit Hum at Oxford.
I have, however, also slept rough in the basement of Reading multi storey car park.

Diverse enough for you? Grin

Thanks QQ and AwesomeWellies - it's so easy to get caught up in all of the hearsay. Need to get DD to spend another day at each and see which one she prefers. Also going to go to both of the open days next month to see if I can get a better feel for which one will be right. Either school I am sure, would be great. Advantage is Headington is £1500 cheaper! I am still interested to hear more useful feedback from anyone.

Thanks x
