Liked the whole ethos of this school presented to us when we looked around, no rules for rules sake it seems , a thinking persons school. Would love to hear up to date experiences of the school. Would a bright boy who doesn't push himself be stretched here or could he just coast? (Nb boy bright enough for more selective schools like Winchester but we weren't very keen) Really grateful for any insight from those with recent experience

Presumably 1940s wouldn't be recent enough Grin
My DF was there in the war. He acted as school electrician and as such had permission to go into loads of out of bounds areas.

Friends have a DS there they seem really happy with it although it has to be said he's not the brightest bulb in the box. No full boarding but excellent links coaches etc with London.
We looked at many years ago )for DS1 also as a fall back if DS2 hadn't got a place at a Win Coll! There was at the time no provision for Gifted and Talented, it might have changed now, and we wanted full boarding. But otherwise we liked it.

Am very interested in what you decided here as we have a similar son and love the ethos of the school for the same reasons.

My DF was there in the 50s, and I tried to go in the 80s (didn't get it). It was a lovely setting and seemed like a fab school.
