Does anyone know anything about Dauntsey's school? is it very academic?

Fairly selective but not desperately probably similar to Oakham Cranleigh etc. not grammar school level. It's very popular with the locals as unlike it's near neighbour Marlborough it's not considered "smart". I was talking to a mother and her DC who's there only the other day they couldn't talk highly enough of it, "very normal, not pretentious" although they said it's primarily a day/weekly boarding school with a handful of full boarders unlike Marlborough which is of course basically a full boarding school with some day children.

We come across Dauntsey's children on the outdoor pursuits circuit and I have always been impressed by them - nice, grounded children and friendly parents. No idea of academic standard but I would not imagine super high.

I went there, although in the early 90s. Lots of Forces children, lots of sport and good sports facilities. Not über academic but by no means a school for Tim nice but dim either.

Ps I was a boarder and went home every other weekend. This was fairly normal.
