Which secondary state school for sporty, academic son?

My year 5 son is academic & also very sporty & I am starting to think about suitable schools for him. We are not too far from Clapham Junction, and the immediate academic and sporty state schools which spring to mind are the Sutton Grammers & Tiffin, also Graveney.
Are there anymore I should be thinking of, and how do the above compare re difficulty to get in?

If you're thinking of grammar school and he is in yr 5 then he will be sitting the exams this coming September. These are highly competitive schools and he needs to be prepared in reasoning, how to do 11+ multichoice tests, maths, English... You need to start right away. You can do it yourself if you get organized, get the materials you need and establish a routine. We did it ourselves successfully. Lots of info on MN about all that.

I don't think Graveney is renowned for their sport...?

Emanuel school near you - they do rugby, cricket, rowing - has sports scholarships and bursaries should you need one. For a sporty boy, I would say having the playing fields next to the school is a plus.

Well graveney u15 rugby team were in the national final a few weeks back plus their u16 girls are national volleyball champions but it is fair to say sport is not really a priority ...

Sutton grammars and tiffin would both be a hike and tiffin doesn't really have great facilities
