Sixth form at Gordons, Surrey or Cranbrook Grammar Kent?

My daughter has to choose a boarding place at Gordons Voluntary aided non selective state boarding school, or Cranbrook Grammar School. They both look like very good schools, but I know nothing about the overall ethos and atmosphere for an overseas boarder. Does anyone out there have any experience of either?

I don't know anything about Gordons but I went to Cranbrook as a boarder (ahem some years ago) and absolutely loved it there - would totally recommend it. Great facilities. Boarding houses are good too - good pastoral care. If I had any way to send my kids there now I would. Re boarding, in my day there was a mix of weekly and termly boarders - lots of kids from Army families whose parents were abroad (mine were abroad too although not in army).

Hello, it could be worth also posting this on our Local Talk board:

Gordons is very military biased. Has your DD visited, can she visit either school?

I've just been to both websites. I would suggest your DD look long and hard at the photos. Which set would she fit more into? The very smart suits of Gordons or the slightly scruffier bunch at the top of the Cranbrook page?

They are both great schools, and she should be pleased to have a place. Now she needs to think where she would fit in more and be happiest.
