Ok. DS1 has broken up for Easter and we now have to all accept that this is it. He has been doing dribs and drabs since mocks in February and an hour- ish in the evenings of stuff set by teachers.

Nowhere near what I remember doing for my o'levels a million miles ago. Friends tell me their kids are doing nothing yet. Not sure I believe them though!

Waiting for reality to kick in with him but he still seems to be treating it all like an end of topic test in class!

What's happening in your house? Are you staying well out of it or like me walking round waving a CGP guide 24/7!!!!!

Hooray! Its half term and study leave has officially started Grin

Hope everyone got on ok today.

History was "good" according to DC...

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 23/05/2014 17:29

Just Electronics today and haven't heard from DS1 yet, he's at his dad's this weekend. Thank goodness for half term!

pigsinmud · 23/05/2014 17:36

Ds1 disappointed with history. I have noticed a pattern - confident about the subject and comes out feeling he could have done better. Not confident about subject - comes out thinking it was ok!

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 23/05/2014 17:58

Not had that pattern with DS1, schilke. Ones he dislikes have gone as expected or worse, and ones he's more confident about have gone well. I don't know if that's better or worse. Confused

Just had a message from him to say Electronics was pretty easy, but that might mean grade boundaries will be tougher, or may mean he's done well. Who can tell until August? He's sounds much happier today, though. Apparently Eng Lit poetry was pants yesterday.

MrsMaturin · 23/05/2014 18:12

Dd seemed pretty cheery today (thankfully) and quite stimulated by the history paper but she did say it was 'weird' in the topic and the framing of the questions, very different from previous years. I'm going to check out TSR and see what they thought......

MorvahRising · 23/05/2014 18:19

DS was pleased with the history, especially as the home front was the topic he knew best. He was really nervous before his first exam two weeks ago but seems to have got into his stride now, although nearly all his important ones are after half tem, so we'll see what he's like then! He came home very cheerful, and with chewing gum all over his trousers (someone else's I hasten to add, it was stuck under a desk . . . grrrrr).

He has now been given his parcel which - ahem - arrived this morning!

Hope all the DCs have a happy and not too stressful half term!

Leeds2 · 23/05/2014 18:21

Hope your son enjoys his parcel, Morvah.

sausagedog12 · 23/05/2014 19:04

DS also pleased with History, currently upstairs relaxing(?) on his computer games with the knowledge that worse is over.

snozzlemaid · 23/05/2014 21:34

History was good apparently. Ds is now at his leavers ball. He's exhausted though so not sure if he'll survive the after party.

littlewhitebag · 23/05/2014 21:37

DD says history was good as was Latin. We went to her art exhibition in school this evening and it was excellent. Lots of talented students. She is taking tonight off and is working tomorrow. Only 8 more exams to go, thankfully.

Nocomet · 23/05/2014 21:47

7 down, 11 to go.

Drama today went OK.

mummymeister · 23/05/2014 21:57

half way through - history and textiles today both went well. amazed at how calm and relaxed my DC is. apparently this is because she has been working hard and doing the revision as per her timetable. me, I was up at dawn cramming. will be taking a break for 2 days on thurs and Friday then 2 weeks to go and it will all be over.

littlewhitebag · 23/05/2014 22:11

Half way? Confused We are 17 down 8 to go!

Best1sWest · 23/05/2014 22:27

That sounds an awful lot of exams. DS has only 11 in total! 8 to go.

6 down, 12 to go here. DS now on study leave, disappointed they weren't allowed any sort of celebrating at school today, even in subjects where they have had the exams.

He has a leavers day nearly at the end of his exams, and the Leavers Party the night of his last exam.

Already looking forward to his 2 days Sixth form induction at the end of JUne!

nostress · 24/05/2014 08:25

So, how much time off are you giving them? DH has insisted on DS having three days off with no work. This is making me nervous as DS hasnt looked at the after half term subjects since easter!

sausagedog12 · 24/05/2014 08:29

DS having all bank holiday weekend off but then he has only got 4 left having done 17 in first 2 weeks so I think he more than deserves it!
Just hope he can get back into it afterwards......

MrsMaturin · 24/05/2014 08:35

dd has done 15 with 8 to go. She can have as long off as she wants tbh.

hoboken · 24/05/2014 08:54

Sending sympathy and hope to all of you. DC no longer involved in school system and also not in England... So, why 'bloody Grove?' Genuine question, not a criticism of any poster.

AtiaoftheJulii · 24/05/2014 08:57

Expect dd2 will have the long weekend off - although she might prefer to do a bit if she's not got anything else to do, just keep her ticking over. And then I know she's out on Tuesday. After half term she has another 8 papers but they're spread over nearly 3 weeks, and the first week back she just has History on Monday and Chemistry on Friday, so it's all a lot calmer from here on.

Hope they all get a proper break at some point this half term :)

LIZS · 24/05/2014 09:09

ds also taking a few days' break and back with a vengeance after the BH.

mumthetaxidriver · 24/05/2014 09:22

Blissfully slow start to the morning for us all Grin. So day off today but dont wan't DS to lose momentum on revision front too much. Still has 10 to go - not quite as bad as before but wants to use these papers to strengthen grades. Wondering if any DC doing the History Surgery paper the first Monday back. In the CGP book it only covers about 5 pages - but DS reckons it accounts for same marks as the other two. Are we missing something?

eatyourveg · 24/05/2014 09:24

10 down 7 to go here. Nothing today or tomorrow but from Monday he's blitzing Maths and Science as they've hardly had a look in since the exams started.

KatyMac · 24/05/2014 09:28

We've done 2 with 7 to go, only 5 GCSEs this year

But she has 4 GCSEs & 2 Btecs already (from this year, last year & the year before)
