Ok. DS1 has broken up for Easter and we now have to all accept that this is it. He has been doing dribs and drabs since mocks in February and an hour- ish in the evenings of stuff set by teachers.

Nowhere near what I remember doing for my o'levels a million miles ago. Friends tell me their kids are doing nothing yet. Not sure I believe them though!

Waiting for reality to kick in with him but he still seems to be treating it all like an end of topic test in class!

What's happening in your house? Are you staying well out of it or like me walking round waving a CGP guide 24/7!!!!!

DD has two physics and a sociology paper today. DD slept for 12 hours over night, because of a sleepless night the night before. She was watching a 24 hour charity blog Hmm and had coffee at a stupid hour. We went out yesterday and found her fast asleep when we got home about 6 and slept through until we got up at 6 this morning. She does seem fairly refreshed though.

AtiaoftheJulii · 19/05/2014 08:26

An AS maths module this morning (bit stressful as he older sister is doing the same module!) and then OCR Gateway Biology 1, 2 & 3 this afternoon. The Bio seems to have really low grade boundaries though, so will hopefully be ok ...

MorvahRising · 19/05/2014 08:33

Coconutty DS did history and geography. He is going on to do all sciences but he has really enjoyed history. It has been a fairly heavy workload, but his teacher has piled on the prep, whereas your DS's teacher may be a bit less conscientious!

I would recommend history rather than media studies if possible as I think it would be seen as more heavyweight choice. Having said that if he's already doing geography he has got one humanity under his belt.

When it comes down to it I guess it's whatever he's more likely to enjoy and work at!

LeapingOverTheWall · 19/05/2014 08:35

DD was surprisingly calm this morning - off early for a sociology "revision breakfast". and may have time for the physics "working lunch" depending on how much of her extra time she uses this morning. Hopefully she has the same invigilator for sociology and german, so can go for a walk outside between the two subjects (they both start at 9 so she's in even more isolation than normal).

pigsinmud · 19/05/2014 08:41

All calm here. He has German this morning and physics this afternoon. He's gone wearing good luck rainbow loom bracelet that his youngest sister made him! He didn't like to tell her that he'd have to take it off for the exam.
Tomorrow is English literature. He's very negative about this. It used to be his strong subject, but has gone downhill during his time at secondary school.

eatyourveg · 19/05/2014 09:10

Gosh, seem to be lots of calm dc around this morning. Just dropped ds - he's very subdued and much more tired than usual. Its the worst day of the lot, law then science - his two weakest subjects. Its been very hard to chivvy him along Sad

MissScatterbrain · 19/05/2014 09:40

Thanks Coco. Re your question - I would go for history too although it requires a bit of thought and planning when writing essays.

LeapingOverTheWall · 19/05/2014 14:32

got a "went badly" text Sad. Will have to wait now till at least 4.30 to find out exactly what went badly.

nostress · 19/05/2014 14:56

Is that Physics? AQA?

FidelineandFumblin · 19/05/2014 15:26

Is that Physics? AQA?

Hope not Sad

MissScatterbrain · 19/05/2014 15:30

Oh dear Leaping...

I'm still waiting for news and I am expecting to hear that German went badly due to lack of revision and preparation.

They are paranoid about getting caught with mobiles that they won't switch on their phones til they're on their way home.

nostress · 19/05/2014 15:31

On TSR they seem to be saying it was very hard and confusing eek. My lad has not texted me yet but we shall see. Although if all found it hard we have to hope for lower boundaries! But at least that's one down! After 3 exams! Re focus for English tomorrow!

LeapingOverTheWall · 19/05/2014 15:34

It was either German or Sociology which went badly this morning - TSR seems to think the listening was pretty tough.

MissScatterbrain · 19/05/2014 15:34

Its Maths and Eng Lit tomorrow here.

FidelineandFumblin · 19/05/2014 15:34

Thought 3rd (actually Physics 1) AQA Physics was still to come?

sidneypie · 19/05/2014 15:41

AQA Physics P1 is scheduled for 12 June. Haven't heard from dd on P2/P3 yet.

sidneypie · 19/05/2014 15:53

Now had a text about P2/P3 to say it was 'fine'

MorvahRising · 19/05/2014 15:56

OCR physics seems to have been OK, although DS said it was more mathematical than he was expecting, "but not in a difficult way."

Eng Lit and RE tomorrow.

Hope it's not as bad as you fear, leaping.

SupportManager · 19/05/2014 15:59

'How did the exams go?'

'yeah, ok'

'ok as in 'fine' or ok as in 'not that good?'................
.... no reply...
...'ok as in 'fine' or ok as in 'not that good?'

Silence.

Front door shuts.

Out to meet BF.

Confused..Which kind of 'ok' ...?? Smile

snozzlemaid · 19/05/2014 16:03

Hi all. Been watching this thread as ds is going through this at the moment. He had 2 German exams and a physics today. He found the physics really hard and said it was very mathematical too (not his strong point).
He found the biology and chemistry exams last week a lot easier, so I'm hoping they'll help if he gets a really low mark in today's.
Eng lit tomorrow too.

pigsinmud · 19/05/2014 16:30

AQA Physics this afternoon was impossible according to ds1. He said that everyone he talked to afterwards had found it really hard - harder than chemistry & biology last week. He found German listening hard, but the reading easy. He seems ok though.

Reassuring that everyone found it hard!

LeapingOverTheWall · 19/05/2014 16:37

physics was v mathsy (which works for DD), the German listening was evil, and the sociology was fine (needed all her extra time for that one though).

Whew, English Lit tomorrow, then things are much more sensibly spaced out Smile.

Have everyone's ill DC recovered?

bruffin · 19/05/2014 16:48

dd said physics was ok, but one paper was harder than the other. She wrote 11 pages for sociology which she seemed pleased with.

eatyourveg · 19/05/2014 16:53

ds was in a separate room for his law exam - said it went badly and made worse because the invigilator's mobile kept pinging texts through. Surely she isn't allowed to have her phone on? If I complain to school would they do anything? if its against the regs does that make the exam void and would he have to resit? How do I find out if its against the regs all the regs i can find are about students and their mobiles in exams. Do i contact jcq or the exam officer at school or the senco? presumably it has to be done today?

FidelineandFumblin · 19/05/2014 16:59

I would eat

An invigilator at a neighbouring school apparently fell asleep in two separate exams last week. Shock
