Ok. DS1 has broken up for Easter and we now have to all accept that this is it. He has been doing dribs and drabs since mocks in February and an hour- ish in the evenings of stuff set by teachers.

Nowhere near what I remember doing for my o'levels a million miles ago. Friends tell me their kids are doing nothing yet. Not sure I believe them though!

Waiting for reality to kick in with him but he still seems to be treating it all like an end of topic test in class!

What's happening in your house? Are you staying well out of it or like me walking round waving a CGP guide 24/7!!!!!

DD has finally re-read To Kill a Mockingbird (last looked at spring of Y10); gone through a massive chunk of Sociology, and has retreated to her room with a Physics revision guide. I think everything is on track for the next two days, then we're over the worst of it thankfully.

KatyMac · 18/05/2014 15:28

DD re-watched 'To Kill a Mocking Bird' yesterday - she was almost word perfect - we are praying for a question about other types of this situation (eg Scottsboro Boys - it's a favourite of DDs) but apart from that tonsillitis is featuring heavily this week end with a hair-wash that lasted over an hour Hmm

MorvahRising · 18/05/2014 18:10

Interesting to hear about other DCs avoidance tactics; we have also had a less than productive day . . . . he spent the morning revising, allegedly, but the geography only took twenty minutes and the maths consisted of sticking revision cards to the wall "because I can learn them as I stick."

Otherwise he has been fixing a CD player, wondering whether to order a frame for a picture, and - tidying the bedroom cupboard!! At no other time ever in the history of the world would the bedroom cupboard be voluntarily tidied.

MrsMaturin · 18/05/2014 19:20

Dd worked solidly whilst we were out at church, did some more this afternoon (though I think it was quite sporadic Hmm) and is now watching chick flick with dd2.

Leeds2 · 18/05/2014 19:53

Love the tidying of the bedroom cupboard, Morvah!

DD has IGCSE biology tomorrow, so was doing that this afternoon. Watching a DVD now.

eatyourveg · 18/05/2014 21:33

Just gone up to tuck him in fill up his cup of water and rufflle his hair in lieu of a goodnight kiss to find him lying there with his science notes in bed!. He said everyone on fb is saying that if you go to sleep reading your notes, you'll remember them better than if you get up early to revise. I'm giving him another 10 minutes and then confiscating them - he needs to sleep

MrsMaturin · 18/05/2014 21:34

Dd seems calm. I am sitting here with butterflies in my tummy. I can't believe I have to go through this all AGAIN with As and the A levels and then dd2 three times and dd3 three times. AAAAAAAAARGH.

MrsMaturin · 18/05/2014 21:35

Oh and then there is uni finals and further professional exams.......

MrsMaturin · 18/05/2014 21:35

Time for another cornetto!

LowCloudsForming · 18/05/2014 22:02

Hmm MrsM…I really don't like ice-cream. Any suggestions?

Nocomet · 18/05/2014 22:19

DH finally found her retainer, she drew science mind maps, HW/revision and wrote cards about mice and men (it's still scheduled for a fiery end) she swears the plot really does fit on a postcard.

Now she's painting my toe nails.

Nocomet · 18/05/2014 22:22

She says she has also written up tons of words for drama. She's sitting by me now.

Nocomet · 18/05/2014 22:23

She says they are to be stuck by her bed and stared at (she's dyslexic, spelling is "the most satanic thing ever invented")

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 18/05/2014 22:53

Dd has been calmness personified. She has revised bio all day on and off (30 min chunks). Then had full on wobbly as she couldn't find Hound of the cocking Baskervilles! Tearing room apart, tears the works. Apparently school hasn't enough un annotated copies for them all to take into exam! Hmm don't know how they are going check every page of every copy! but who am I apart from someone who has invigilated English for the last 4 years

MissScatterbrain · 19/05/2014 07:22

The dreaded day has arrived - three exams, two of which are German and the other is Physics.

No doubt I won't hear anything til just before 4pm Hmm

Dh has just given dds 1 and 2 a lift. Dd1 seems calm. Two German this morning then two physics this afternoon. Ugh.

Coconutty - dd1 has done history and I don't think the workload has been too bad. Two exams. It's very, very interesting. Would he get extra time in the exams?

FidelineandFumblin · 19/05/2014 08:07

Two German this morning then two physics this afternoon. Ugh.

That is just lunacy. How was that nodded through?

MorvahRising · 19/05/2014 08:13

Physics (OCR) this afternoon. So far, so calm . . . it's what he wants to do at university though so a rather important one!

LIZS · 19/05/2014 08:16

Biology today and Maths tomorrow. ds will say goodbye to sciences forever today! Seems very calm all of a sudden, not sure if it is simply less frantic than last week as exams more spaced out. dd also has school exams this week.

SupportManager · 19/05/2014 08:19

MrsM - sounds like a very hard day!
Dd has 2 exams today, and the other exam days there will be only one exam, which will seem a lot easier in comparison. so it's hopefully worse day over after today.
She's been calm over weekend, after revision classes at school on Sat and Sun, spent yesterday afternoon out in the sunshine relaxing with her mates, I'm sure that did her good.
Good luck to everyone today!
