Ok. DS1 has broken up for Easter and we now have to all accept that this is it. He has been doing dribs and drabs since mocks in February and an hour- ish in the evenings of stuff set by teachers.

Nowhere near what I remember doing for my o'levels a million miles ago. Friends tell me their kids are doing nothing yet. Not sure I believe them though!

Waiting for reality to kick in with him but he still seems to be treating it all like an end of topic test in class!

What's happening in your house? Are you staying well out of it or like me walking round waving a CGP guide 24/7!!!!!

9pm - anyone else trying to get kids to go to bed earlier now it's exam time? we had a talk today about getting to bed for 10 (i.e. that drifting into the bathroom with headphones on at 1015 , drifting back to bedroom at 1045 does not count as 'going to bed at 10') but it's after 9 now and there's no sign of getting ready for bed.....
It's exasperating.

anyone doing cockermouth for a geography case study? ds seems to have possibly muddled rainfall figures. He has written 314.4mm over 24 hour period and 370mm over a 3 day period. They don't seem very different to me.

Just put him to bed, he's spent the day on georgraphy and PE and only done a bit of philosophy and no french whatsoever. Que sera sera

All the best to all the dc who kick off tomorrow

SupportManager · 11/05/2014 21:22

EYV re Cockermouth, I think he is right. The BBC confirms 314 mm in 24 hours as do lots of sites on google. This site has the 370mm figure here

Best1sWest · 11/05/2014 21:42

Good luck to everyone starting tomorrow. ICT Wednesday and Science Thursday here.

Leeds2 · 11/05/2014 21:45

DD has RS tomorrow morning. Her school also has French in the afternoon, although DD doesn't do French.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/05/2014 21:48

official cockermouth figures :)

Nocomet · 12/05/2014 01:37

DD1 is dyslexic, remembering things like Chinnese place names and rainfall figures simply isn't going to happen.

It's utterly pointless anyway, what on earth is google for. No one is going to need to know rainfall in Somewhere I can't spell ever again in their entire life.

eatyourveg · 12/05/2014 06:30

Thanks all for the cockermouth figures - grill pan fire here this morning, ds wanting a cooked breakfast on each day of a morning exam!

Still don't see him revising french which is this afternoon, philosophy this morning and its all go with exams all week save for thursday and just to test my nerves, ds1 starts his uni exams this morning too - calm is not something I'm renowned for

spongeypop · 12/05/2014 07:37

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE YEAR 11S !!

mumthetaxidriver · 12/05/2014 07:41

Good luck to all starting today - none for DS today. He is just frustrated about having to be in school on normal timetable.

sausagedog12 · 12/05/2014 08:06

My DS has Edexcel algebra award thing this morning and French this afternoon. Biology and geography tomorrow. It's all go now ..............pressure is on. Good luck to everyone doing exams of any kind!!!

AtiaoftheJulii · 12/05/2014 08:07

Good luck to all starting today!

EatSleepRaveRepeat · 12/05/2014 08:25

DD has French listening and reading today, then Geography and Biology tomorrow.
She is my first to have exams so I'm very nervous for her

Dontwanttobeyourmonkeywench · 12/05/2014 08:26

Good luck to everyone who is starting today! DS has RE this morning aand French listening in the afternoon. Huge gap in between and not allowed off campus for lunch so I'm hoping that he took enough lunch because he zones out if he's hungry...

LIZS · 12/05/2014 08:33

Same as you today, Dontwanttobeyourmonkeywench. Just hoping he can hear the French listening properly as the acoustics were poor in the mock. H's looking forward to burning putting French books away forever this evening.

Nocomet · 12/05/2014 08:39

Good luck to everyone.
RE-Ethics here this morning.

Lunch in town, prefects are allowed off site and then she wants to pick the maths teachers brain during her 'free period'

MrsMaturin · 12/05/2014 10:11

Dd looked calm. I gave her a big hug before she left. I feel sick tbh. I don't give a stuff what she gets, I just want HER to be happy with it. French for us. I am really worried about one of her friends too. Hope she can keep it together.

eatyourveg · 12/05/2014 10:56

I'm worried about the French teacher giving them all the foundation paper this afternoon - apparently they don't have to decide until they put the papers on the desks. ds had As for all his CA/orals but the teacher has been threatening the whole class (top set) saying I don't care what your parents demand, I'll be the one making the decision, not them. She predicted him an A after the first batch of mocks in November but gave them all a foundation mock a fortnight ago so it doesn't bode well - its meant to be a compulsory subject but tons have dropped it since Christmas. Sad

ISingSoprano · 12/05/2014 11:48

Dd has done Ethics this morning. She just phoned to say it went quite well. French this afternoon after which NO MORE FRENCH EVER!

To be honest I am quite glad they are underway now.

Good luck to everyone.

Needmoresleep · 12/05/2014 11:56

French today then switch languages for next week. Beginning to think two MFL was not a good idea. Still with art out of the way and French finishing today it all seems more manageable.

Can't wait till these, and DS' A2s are out of the way.

behappynomatterwhat · 12/05/2014 12:01

I just hope mine one get enough passes to go to the six form... I am worrying he can't reach the min target.. he is a dreamy type and lack of motivation. all failed in mock.. so I am worrying. life is hard if he has to go to college to retake all subjects next year... I don't think my DS realised how hard the life can be. Biology and Geography tomorrow...
