I'm going to see this school, as an option for my son who is very sporty and academically average but keen. Can anyone tell me about this school? I hear mixed views

DS has been offered the Headmaster’s scholarship at St James , he is academically very good and far ahead compared to his current classmates. Any insight into how academically bright boys are nurtured will be gratefully received.

@greenfingers2020 there are some very strong academic boys at St J these days, particularly in the lower school, as the school has got more popular over the last few years and they I think they have now filled the new site. My Ds is in Y9 and not on an academic scholarship, but he is in a couple of top sets and some of them are v strong. The Head of Academics is very good and they are keen on stretching the able ones. When it gets to GCSEs they cap at 9 unless you do something like Greek, which is extra to the timetable (or further maths I think) so that can put off some of the very academic children. They also don’t do any GCSEs early.
