The 2 Latymers: Godolphin or Latymer Upper?

My daughter has to choose between Latymer Upper and Godolphin and Latymer and we are seeking guidance from any parents. Which is the better academic choice and is she better off with all girls with all the bickering or co-ed at LU and risk of bullying? Having said that, we are impressed by both schools. Her goal is to apply to US universities.

really?? her goal at 11 is really to apply to US universities? why not toss a coin and see which way it falls - if you tell yourself G&L is heads and it comes down tails and you feel disappointed then you know it's G&L you want

My dd is at Godolphin & Latymer. She is very, very happy with a lovely group of friends, no bickering or meanness as yet. It is a very happy school with great academic standards and excellent pastoral care. We feel she is in very safe hands there.

We have several friends with DD at Latymer. They are also very much enjoying it. They say you have to be good at maths and, as it's so big, a good self-starter, able to look after yourself and find your way around. Perhaps not so good for a dreamy child? Academically, I think they are much of a muchness. Depends really on how you feel about co-ed vs single sex schooling.

Honestly, I think this is a "shall I wear the pearls or the diamonds?" situation. Whichever you choose, it'll be fine. I have friends' children at both, and they are all very lucky, very happy children who are having a great time at school, and who are getting an excellent education.

I don't get the co-ed and bullying link? I went to a girls school and bullying was the norm! AFAIK the girls in DS' year at LUS are having a great time. I sense both boys and girls love having each other around.
