Anyone else waiting to hear? Officially the allocation date is march 3rd but is there any chance we might hear earlier? Via email or portal? Originally we were told we would be informed the 1st of march. TIA

Me too. Looked on website. May be able to check online after midnight Sunday. (So early hours Monday.)

Zingy123 · 28/02/2014 22:41

We should be able to log in after midnight Sunday. I want to know now I am so impatient.

Thiscarisreversing · 28/02/2014 22:54

I need a good dose of patience!

I wonder what happened on previous secondary schools allocations days?

Can't link on phone bit there is a big thread in Education with explanation of dates etc if you want to head over there

zen1 · 28/02/2014 23:35

We were told we would be informed by email after 5pm on Monday.

Diane31 · 01/03/2014 01:08

Found out 12.30 am on line with Trafford Borough.

Diane31 · 01/03/2014 01:31

...Sat morning 1st March!

crimsonwitch · 01/03/2014 01:41

I had an email this afternoon, we weren't offered any of our preferences. DD is devastated Sad I will appeal, but I'm fairly sure they will uphold the decision as we have no real grounds for appeal, other than personal preference.

Thiscarisreversing · 01/03/2014 06:04

Wow! Amazing people are finding out before the 3rd. I'm going to try and track the big thread down thanks mail.

I hope you manage to sort things out crimson. I have a feeling we may need to appeal too.

Half our school have received their emails. The other half haven't. I haven't. It's v nerve wracking!

2whippetsnobed · 01/03/2014 07:01

Our date was 28th Feb by email and post 1st March. We got our first choice thankfully.

Thiscarisreversing · 01/03/2014 08:32

Were you told the 3rd too?

minesawine · 01/03/2014 09:07

I have been told 3rd. Last time it was not until 6pm on the day, online. I am starting to feel a bit nervous.

Wishyouwould · 01/03/2014 12:15

I live in Trafford and we could log on to find out at 12.01am. Happy to say DS and DD both got their first choice (different) schools.

Good Luck everyone!!

MrsSteptoe · 01/03/2014 12:26

Our email is at odds with our council website: the former says we;ll get an email tonight, the latter Monday night. Nothing like keeping us guessing...

I also suggest starting a thread to get advice. There are some really good people round here who can help.

And also advise finding out about waiting lists for the schools you want.

Good luck Smile

bizzey · 01/03/2014 13:17

I got my letter this morning. I did paper application not on line one . London if it helps anyone .

Good luck !

mychildrenarebarmy · 01/03/2014 13:38

Yes, we are waiting and can log on from midnight on 3rd March. We could give 6 in order of preference but only put down 3. DD has always been home educated but has decided she wants to go to secondary school. If she doesn't get one of her 3 choices then most likely we will stay home educating (her choice as well as ours) because the other schools nearby are dreadful.

I think there's a bit of confusion over the date of National Offer Day this year. It's traditionally March 1st, but that is obviously a Saturday. Local Authorities have reacted to that in different ways. Some have obviously posted out yesterday (did you also get an email bizzey?). Many others have declared National Offer Day as March 3rd instead, which is Monday.

The timing of when you get your email depends on the local admissions team, and they might have put the information in your local admissions brochure.

Our local team are posting the letters on Monday, so they should arrive sometime on Tuesday. However, they won't be sending the emails out until "some time on Monday evening". I think that is partly because they don't want the helpdesk caphones to start ringing until Tuesday, but also so that it doesn't disadvantage paper-based applicants in the playground. It's pretty tough on kids if everyone knows their offer except them (although given the post doesn't arrive until lunchtime these days they'll probably still have to suffer that).

Good luck everyone!

Thiscarisreversing · 01/03/2014 17:20

Midnight on Monday night or midnight Sunday night? Confused

OP posts:
prh47bridge · 01/03/2014 20:26

However some councils have gone early and so bent the rules quite a bit

For once I have to disagree with Tiggytape. The Admissions Code says that offers must be made on "1 March or the next working day". To me that suggests offers today are ok. If the government meant it must be on a working day they should have said "the first working day in March".

Cootoo · 01/03/2014 21:51

Slough LEA have put out their allocations at midnight (yes, I did stay up for that...). DD got first choice and will be going to Wycombe High. Not what we expected at all considering previous year's allocations and how far away we are. We're super pleased! The girlie is ecstatic. Well deserved as she worked hard for her 11+.
