Is Westminster School the best school on Earth?

Just looking at their website and they have 97 places for their students at Oxford and Cambridge this year?!

We have an 8 year old son and want to focus on getting him into this place, just next to the Palace of Westminster. It looks amazing! Any thought on parents with children at the school very welcome indeed, especially any thoughts on the application process. Thank you for someone new to London.

"You go to Westminster and you have a 50% chance of going to oxbridge or the ivy league. No matter what kind of kid you have,..."

Umm- only if that child actually gets in!

Is your child even in an English school yet?

And Liberal Arts? Pfftt!

St Paul's Girls may be as good... but it's of no use to you if you have a boy, is it? Hmm

It's not my definition, ChaCha.

It's the dictionary's. OK?

Personally, I think you have it all wrong. One does not pay for a school place to get into the best college possible, one pays for a school place to get the best education possible. Do you see the difference?

It was irony OP. Obviously lost. Maybe they teach it at Westminster.

kernowal · 01/02/2014 22:38

Your comments, OP, are becoming even more sickening and offensive.

There must be some fantastic schools in the US or in France you may wish to look at which would still give your child the chance to attend a top university in 10 years time if they wish to do so. Please feel free to consider them.

teaandthorazine · 01/02/2014 22:41

Yes, but they won't be 'just next to the Palace of Westminster', and the OPs non-dunce won't be able to meet Her Maj (or for that matter, Max Hastings), kernowal.

These are the things that really matter in a school, after all. Do try and keep up, dear Wink

MrsRuffdiamond · 01/02/2014 22:42

I would suggest you re-post this on AIBU, Op.
I think you will get a much more sympathetic response, and lots of helpful replies.

StealthPolarBear · 01/02/2014 22:43

Where do you think the children who don't live in central london attend school?

Wait until the Op's DC doesn't get into Westminster. She'll soon be back with a thread about what a terrible school it is Wink

TheMildManneredMilitant · 01/02/2014 22:46

There are all sorts of offensive words in the dictionary. Still doesn't mean it's ok to use them.

LittleBearPad · 01/02/2014 22:48

Oh fuck any sort of proper comment. I'm marking my place.

kernowal · 01/02/2014 22:50

We have family photo of my dad meeting the queen tea. He failed his 11+ and left school without a single academic qualification. The queen had enough manners to appear to enjoy meeting him. You've just managed to ruin all my illusions. Maybe if I had attended a better public school than the one he sent my brother & I to, I would have appreciated this earlier!

BOFtastic · 01/02/2014 22:50

Only read the title. No, I don't think it's the best school. I knew two of its alumni at university. One was extremely disturbed, and still is, 20 years later. The other one was an arrogant wanker, and has been done for fraud.

TheXxed · 01/02/2014 22:52

Still laughing at Will Self and Stephen Hawking comment, my pelvic floor can't take. Grin

Snort at excitement over jobbing journo, Max Hastings.

vindscreenviper · 01/02/2014 22:53

Max Hastings!
lol

Sparklysilversequins · 01/02/2014 22:54

Your child may well have the goods but I suspect YOU will fall at the first hurdle OP.

vindscreenviper · 01/02/2014 22:55

Ha, great minds charity

nkf · 01/02/2014 22:55

I must admit the Max Hastings reference made me laugh too.

LoveSewingBee · 01/02/2014 22:55

I have reported your thread as I consider your language highly offensive.
