The closest grammars to Petts Wood would be the Bexley ones or the super-selective St Olaves (boys) or Newstead Woods (girls).

Children do travel from PW to the Bexley schools but it is quite a journey, its a difficult choice, maybe worth considering what the non-grammar schools are like in New Eltham in case your DC's don't pass the 11+?

To be honest, the problem with buying in a grammar school area is that the non-selective schools are not proper comprehensives as most of (but not all) the brightest children have been creamed off for grammar schools.

Bexley grammar school places are allocated on distance. If you look at the secondary school admissions booklet on the Council website you will see a table of how far out schools have offered places in recent years. This will help you make sure you move close enough to your preferred school(s).

Easier to get into the Bexley grammars than St O's and NW which, as I am sure you know, run their own tests and are highly competitive.
