quick question for lewisham people and posibbly other london boroughs

I am trying to work out a timeline of exams / secondary school applications for a Sept 2015 start.

Does anyone know when the schools do the secondary school transfer tests for banding in year 5?

I need to decide if its sensible to take DD (currently year 5) to South Africa in Oct 2014 half term.

In Greenwich, which uses the same banding system, the tests to put dc into 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b or 3 were done in May. They use 2 maths papers and reading paper, which I think are Y5 QCA tests (I'm a parent, not a teacher so not entirely sure). I don't think they were done on a set day.

However, some schools eg. Askes, use their own test and these are done on a particular day. So you would need to check out these separately.

Lewisham banding tests are done at the end of year 5. But they're not pass/fail type tests so no need to revise in any way.
