Interpersonal communication skills

My SS in yr 9 is very shyy and reserved wanted to improve his interpersonal skills, can any one advice me where to join him for training?

Would he be prepared to join a drama group? Maybe you could talk to his teachers to see if they can draw answers from him in class and see what might be able to help within school. I know shy people do find it very hard to make conversation with others, but also not everyone can be gregarious and a great conversationalist. If he is happy, maybe he will develop these skills when he is older and has a close circle of friends.
