Anyone with me?

Congratulations to everyone who has independent school place offers! I sympathise with having to wait for differing offer acceptance deadlines, but if you have made your minds up, please spare a thought for those of us with children on the reserve lists and reply as soon as you are sure. My DD is on the reserve list of the one independent school she applied to (the other independent schools near enough to us are great but would not suit her needs) and is desperate for her place! I guess the deadlines are so that schools can find out who really wants their place and who is using them as a second or third choice "banker". I'm not suggesting for a moment that anyone should rush their decision, it's fantastic to have a choice and you are making a very important decision. It's just that my nails can't take any more.......!!!/emo/te/4.gif

It's the worst wait! Dreadful that it is so long winded x

PottyLottie123 · 18/02/2014 17:10

Thanks, Bemused33! I'm starting to realise that this must be how long each day before Christmas seems to my 7 year old! I'm trying to enjoy half term, but keep wanting to get to 3rd March to see if we have any luck!

AliceLostinWonderland · 24/02/2014 11:46

One week today!

PottyLottie123 · 24/02/2014 12:24

Still waiting! I've realised today that half term has masked how I really feel about being on the waiting list. I'm keeping everything I'm feeling from DD and trying to stay positive. She checked the post herself over half term, so I know it's bothering her far more than she's letting on. :(
I emailed the school a week last Saturday to ask what position she was on the list. The registrar of the school we've applied to said that they usually have movement and the list is deliberately kept very small. I've had no reply yet and realise that they've been off for half term and must have loads to deal with, but I'm desperate to know! I feel like I will appear "pushy" if I call them, but waiting is not my strong suit...!!!

PottyLottie123 · 24/02/2014 12:27

Desperation clouding my ability to communicate! I spoke to the registrar on 14th February to accept the waiting list place. It's the email I have had no reply to. Should I ring to see what position on the list she is, or will I look like the desperate pillock I am, so better to wait until the 3rd to see if that alters anything?

AliceLostinWonderland · 24/02/2014 12:50

I am sure there is no harm in ringing in. Last year, a friend's DD was placed on a waiting list for a grammar place. She and her DH kept on calling the school regularly and built a rapport with the academic registrar. The school didn't tell them the position on the wait list. DD went on the wait list in March and was offered a place in mid July.
There is usually a lot of movement once the national offers are out. If the wait list is small then I believe you will have a good chance of getting in.

PottyLottie123 · 24/02/2014 13:16

Thanks so much for the support! The registrar said there are only 6 on the list. She said that the Head had the list with him, so she couldn't tell me the position. I wasn't sure whether that meant "he keeps the list so I can't give out the positions" or "when he gives it to me I'll let you know". As usual, I thought of all the stuff I should have asked after the call! I'll give them a ring tomorrow to let the "first day back after half term" urgent stuff get done. Am really annoyed with myself for obsessing and not concentrating on what really needs doing today!!!!

PottyLottie123 · 25/02/2014 18:24

Rang school. Head keeps waiting list, registrar doesn't know "pecking order". Some years everyone on the list gets in, others none at all. My DD keeps her place on the list for a year then has to be re-assessed to stay on it. Am going to stop stressing now, whole process too mentally exhausting, time to focus on the present.......and get some sleep that I haven't had since we got the letter!!

AliceLostinWonderland · 26/02/2014 22:21

6 is a very small number! I am sure your DD will have no problems. Just try to stay calm and focus on everything else apart from...

PottyLottie123 · 26/02/2014 22:26

Thanks again! Am extremely calm (sound in background of top being removed from large bottle of gin.....;)

shaq · 28/02/2014 13:01

Will we actually find out on March 3rd? From what I can see on the Kingston council website, the offer letters are posted by 1st class post on March 3rd, so we wouldn't know until March 4th, right?

Like a few others in this thread, I also have a DS who passed Wallington and Wilsons, and sat Sutton - the wait is excruciating!

SweetPenelope · 28/02/2014 13:39

We're in Merton where you can find out online in the evening of the 3rd if you applied online. If you applied on paper you have to wait for a letter.

shaq · 28/02/2014 13:52

Thanks Penelope!

Nothing on the Kingston website about being able to find out online, even though we applied online. Guess we'll have to wait until the following day :-(

shaq · 28/02/2014 13:58

Actually, just logged into my eadmissions account, and I can see:

The outcome to your online application will be sent by email during the evening on the following days:

Monday 3rd March 2014 - Secondary, UTC and Studio schools

bizzey · 01/03/2014 13:10

Don't want to brag but ....I got a letter this morning from my council/LA with my first choice Grin.

Don't know if someone is going to get into trouble for sending them out early...but maybe try logging on again. I did paper and not online .

Good luck everyone !

AliceLostinWonderland · 03/03/2014 05:11

Wow congratulations bizzey
All LA have acted differently, if you read other similar thread, many parents have received the results already. This must have been longest east weekend of my life!
I would have assumed that if you applied online then you can will receive results online too and if by paper then a letter will be sent to you.
