My DH said the Gov. website stated that the National Curriculum had been 'abandoned' for this year. What are schools following then? What are parents supposed to follow in order to help their DCs?? Confused

Y10 will be following the syllabus for each of their options, so GCSE maths, BTEC science etc. You can help in the usual ways, buying the appropriate revision guides etc.

At KS3 the National curriculum is changing with a new one to start Sept 14. In most subjects it has been much slimmed down to give schools freedom to design their own - a few subjects are still very detailed (eg. maths).

The Government announced, in September, that they were giving schools permission to disregard the old one immediately to help them prepare for the new one. Since term was underway and the new one wasn't even published in final form at that time most schools are seeing 2013-14 out under the old one.
