My DD was looking at the swps website and liked the look of it. She is in Year 9 and would be moving for the Summer Term. She is into music and drama and is quite bright seeing as she got a scholarship for academics to Tormead. She isn't too sporty. I think she liked the look of this school because it's not too expensive for me, which obviously has to be considered and nobody she knows is there. I am not one of those Surrey power mums, will this matter? I think she is quite shy but tries to hide it and doesn't want to be judged like she thinks she would be at a school with lots of girls she knows at. Anyone know of girls or with dd's there that can just tell me about the school itself? Oh, I think the only concern we have is we live around the Esher area which is quite far away. does anyone else live near there with DD's at swps?

I know a few people with dds there and are very happy with it. Downside is there are lots of compulsary extras that you have to pay that aren't included in the termly fees so I would reckon it's at least a couple of thousand more per year than the advertised fees?

Have you ruled out Claremount Fan School? I know others that go there, at first they weren't keen because of the perceived ethos but when they went to visit were very impressed and dc now very happy there.

What about Rosebery in Epsom...there might be the odd vacancy. And it's completely free of charge!
Could kingston Grammar be an option? Might be bursaries for an academically able child transferring in-year and could be scholarship potential for 6th form...
Good luck in the choice. Always tricky to move at this stage of schooling.

There are certainly a number of children at SWPS who come from Esher/Hersham - they run a school bus from there - I personally know of 2 ... one of DD's friends (from Surbiton H) moved to SWPS last year for the last term of Y9 ... it's reasonably academic but not overwhelmingly so ... why do you want to move your DD from her current school?
