Secondary schools in and around Stamford, Lincolnshire

Hi

We are thinking of moving to Stamford and need to look for a secondary school for dd for 2015.

From what I've read, there are concerns about there being too few good state secondary schools in the town, and children have to travel to other schools nearby. I also understand that there is interest in creating a free school in the town.

Just wondered if anyone could recommend a good school in the area that would accept a child living in Stamford.

Stamford is in Lincs so still has 11 plus.

If there aren't grammars in town (can't remember, it's been 30 years) at least 25% will travel to Bourne or somewhere, and of the remainder, some will prefer a comp over the border in Leics to a sec modern in Stamford.

I don't know anything about actual schools but imagine that would explain why children have to travel.
