Reports - how often?

DD1 is in year 7 and we received an interim report through the post on Saturday which I wasn't expecting. Does this mean that secondary schools issue reports at the end of each term? I am only used to receiving one at the end of the summer term, as we did in primary school. Thanks.

We send one full report per year (at different times of year depending on the year group. Yr11 & 6th form have been done so far) and review grades at the end of each term.

We get five online updates a year. For each subject, we get an indication of achievement (how current performance compares to their target level) and behaviour. If they are underperforming, the teacher usually provides a comment. We can also see how many housepoints they have been given and if they have been given any detentions.

Although frequent, these reports are not very detailed, but they do point out if there are concerns in any subject. By secondary school, I think pupils are supposed to be taking responsibility for their own progress and learning.

One settling in (v brief ok or not ok symbols for homework etc) early in first term , then two full reports and one parent eve spread out over the rest of the year.

We get one set of interim grades and one full report per year: seems plenty to me.

A school I worked in gave 5 lots of reported grades/targets, which was too many and a beaurocratic nightmare.

Every half term a short report, once a year a full report

Kez100 · 23/12/2013 19:29

Once each term. Two are short ones and one is a full written report.

TeenAndTween · 23/12/2013 21:02

One at the end of each term.
Numbers (or letters) only, no words.

Must vary a lot... Got nothing for first term when DC started high school (y7 or y8). I think I'm relishing the dearth of info (no news is good news, lol).
