Edge Grove or St George's Harpenden

Hello, I'm new to mumsnet, just wanted some advice really. dd has been accepted at Edge Grove and also St Georges as we were considering state boarding intially. We are now at loggerheads as someone recently asked why we would want to keep her in a primary school and then move her again as EG goes up to age 13. dd primary is quite a small school, which is one of the reasons why we choose EG.
Also we havent been to STG yet, the interview date is end of next week but need to accept offer to EG on Monday...please advice,thanks

It's very hard to advise you, because you are comparing totally different schools.

St George's is a state senior school with pupils from age 11-18.

Edge Grove is an independent prep school with pupils from age 3-13.

I think that you need to decide whether you are looking for state or independent sector schooling in the long term. If you want state, then you should put DD in St George's now because there is no guarantee that there will be places available at your first choice state schools for Year 9.

Thank you both, thats helped clear things up. I hadnt compared both schools on the scale of CE/GCSEs, with the later being more important.
The plan was to get DD into an independent school, and then move on to a selective state school @ 13. Forgot to mention she'll be boarding, which was why we decided on EG, not too many boarders and really liked the pastoral care

You'll be lucky to get a selective state at 13!
