there are Maths revision sheets stuck to the wall in the downstairs toilet!

I feel your pain. Mine has them stuck to the wall by her bed so not too bad but last month was hell - she was supposed to be doing maths and english next week I think but then due to Gove's buggering about with everything the school reluctantly decided it was too high risk for students to do it then (they suspected giggery pokery with the grade boundaries). Dd was very upset. (Massive understatement)

I bloody wish. There are no revision sheets stuck anywhere in this house. Revision is apparently for the weak hmm.

Everything is such a massive drama.

The milk was off last week (obviously there was another in the bloody fridge ) but apparently "she was going to feel sick ALL the way through her German controlled assessment and no one should expect her to do well NOW"

My suggestion of having a yoghurt to take the taste away was accompanied by much eye rolling and flouncing

This one's older brother was the same - but then you could do retakes until the cows came home. I sort of hope he does badly in the mocks - I think he needs a bit of a scare.

When you are surrounded by maths revision guides and know the BBC Bitesize Maths pages off by heart and could probably pass the bloody thing yourself and your DS is bowling with his mates/in his room playing his guitar/watching the rugby/doing anything but revisibg.

I'm with Hassled ds has made it to Yr13 without a post it in sight, in his room, let alone anywhere else.

I started a similar thread earlier year Talkinpeace. We had maths formula in the fridge when DS was revising for his AS's

Talkinpeace my previous year 11 did the bathroom thing (I may have posted it on Bruffin's old thread )
The current year 11 had his mocks before half term, ridiculously early IMO. He has controlled assessments permanently on the go though. The history one seems to require him to write War and Peace.

Definite boy/girl divide.

My year 11 ds didn't do anything all weekend. It's "all in his head" apparently.

Mocks started today for my year11 dd. Methinks it is going to be a looooong two weeks. No maths revision posted around the house but lots of history!

We have sixth form college prospectuses everywhere and her own school sixth form open evening this week ...

Also gearing up for 2 French, 2 Spanish and 1 English CA this half term! History CA is done and dusted last half term, thank goodness, she's waiting anxiously to hear how it (roughly) went.

Oh I wish! DS did little/no revision, still got reasonable grades (a mixture of great ones and not good to be honest). I got exhausted by the stress.

DD is year 10 - has started revision cards already, and started the stress before her GCSE courses. Has already visited one college for the next stage, is interested in visiting more.

Revision sheets???? What are they???? I have a clone of Hassled's confident, bright boy but Parents Evening on Wed may be a revelation - and monitoring is due before then. In fact, I'm off to check the website now. I shall report back on whether I need to find the source of these revision sheets or whether we will be continuing to do no visible work whatsoever!

Those confident bright boys can usually wing it through GCSEs. Mine did. He got good grades but could have got stellar grades if he had put in the revision.
When it comes to AS it's different. You have to work hard as well as being bright.
After the January exams he found out that he needed to up his game considerably.
Boys will fare worst in the abolition of January AS's I think.
