Hi all never posted on here before. Really hoping this will work
I am desperate for some help. Please can anyone tell me what this school is like? Preferably a parent who has a child at the school would be of most help. It is a nightmare for secondary applications. My 10 year old is not so keen on the local secondary ( although we have moved just so we could be in the catchment for it) & now prefers to this school? Please help we no of no one going to this school...any advice/insight would be gratefully received.

Is your dc a boy or a girl? Which school is the one you moved to be in the catchment area for?

'Aske's' is probably the most oversubscribed boys' school in Lewisham borough, with no close rivals. The girls' school is also v popular, but Prendergast has a good reputation as well, so there is more choice for girls.

I'm not sure of the current Lewisham entrance procedures, but I think closeness to the school ranks highly. I do know that Prendergast admits 10% on aptitude for music.

Sorry not to be of more help - hope someone comes along with more uptodate information.

Thanks so much for your reply!!
DS has out of the blue has got a music scholarship but we had no idea that he would. Was told there would be in region of 800 taking the test but only 17 places so fidnt thibk much of it. I am worried about the schools other aspects eg. Bullying, pastoral care and how well they do academically in general.
We moved to be in catchment area for Bromley Schools but DS is not keen and they have gone downhill since we moved. Please help any parents out there? Must fill in CAF by 31st Oct. Many many thanks everyone, all help greatly appreciated!!

Well done, your DS! Don't know where you are in Bromley but I'd say that Aske's is on a level with the best of the Bromley comps - the ones that have a v small catchment area that you might not be in. But check league tables. I could be out of date. I have friends whose sons went there but it's 10+ years ago.

Aske's also gets financial help from the Haberdashers' company which is v generous with grants for extra-curricular activities.

I hope someone comes along with more uptodate information for you, but as your DS is obviously v talented I'd jump at the chance.
