Does anyone know pass marks for entry into Hampton school?

I don't know the school but I think there are no pass marks for entrance exams. Around here The top x would get a place. If they only have 50 spots .. then 100 passes are irrelevant as they cannot let 100 children in.

Yes, around here the pass mark would change slightly every year and a pass would certainly not guarantee you a place.

Also, Hampton School will invite the boys who they are considering offering a place to, in for an interview.

Performance in the entrance test as well as performance in the interview will determine whether they ultimately offer the boy a place or not.

It sounds more daunting than it is actually.

Just a tip - why not put the school name in the thread title. i. It will stop people like me with no interest / knowledge of the school opening it ! ii. You might get people who do have interest/knoweldge in fact opening it when they might have just browsed past!

It doesn't really work like that, Hampton. They might have a pass mark of, say, 65% across all the papers but if (unlikely but as an example) all the 900+ boys who sat in January had got 65% across all the papers then they are still only going to interview the top 300 or so - which might end up meaning they are all the ones who got 80% or over.

They then make a higher number of offers than places because so many do more than one exam and they also run a waiting list out of that 300 or so.

It isn't a cut/dried you're in if you get 50%.

Anyone prepared their children for Hampton? Which is the best material?

I went over a few Bond papers with my son beforehand, more to help make HIM feel prepared than anything else.
Also, he read most of the books on their suggested reading list.

Honestly, its pretty hard to prepare for this one as there are no past papers available and they "assess mathematical ability and potential rather than mathematical knowledge".

My DS did read a fair amount of current affairs and news around the time of the interview, which he said helped ... although from what I can tell, the interview seemed to mainly be a chat about rugby!
