Secondary schools in Iver and Beaconsfield

We are thinking of moving outside of London. I have 3 dc , 2 of which are going to start secondary in the next 2 years.
We are looking at areas with low crime rates and good standards of living.
What are your thoughts on secondary schools in and around Iver and Beaconsfield?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Beaconsfield is in an area which has good but highly competitive grammar schools. I am not sure about the process, but I am sure someone will come along soon and tell you about 11 plus

Excellent comprehensive schools, no grammar angst.Good links to London.
e.g. Winchester - 3 good comps, plus excellent 6th Form college. Pricey area, but if you are considering Beaconsfield/Iver maybe do able?

Buckinghamshire has grammar schools but they take around 30% of children overall. Beaconsfield is in the catchment area for The Royal Grammar at High Wycombe and John Hampden Grammar also in High Wycombe. Both are for boys. Beaconsfield Secondary School is not so good and this would be your catchment school if your DS's do not get 11+. Iver children would also get a grammar school choice and a secondary school. The 11+ exams have just changed in Bucks. So you need to contact Bucks CC regard content and I know they are taken very early in the autumn term. They used to be scored using the average of the best of 2, out of 3, Verbal Reasoning tests. I think there are now two tests but not sure of the content. Someone else will know. The 11+ used require a mark of 121 or higher to get a grammar school place but there was a weighting for summer born children. Bucks CC also put their catchment areas on a map on their web site so you can see where you will get a school place if you decide to move to Bucks. I know Beaconsfield really well and it is a great place to live. Remember though, that a lot of the secondary modern schools are not that hot in Bucks and quite a lot have had poor Ofsted inspections. If you want a top performing secondary modern,and some of them greatly out-perform many comprehensive schools, you must live in the catchment area to be sure of a place. Do not leave it to chance. Look at the Ofsted inspections to see where the consistently good secondary schools are but avoid the yo yo ones. Hope this helps.
