DT homework help PLEASE!

So DS1 Has had his first lot of DT homework-it is ultimately to design and build a "fun" USB stick.
This sounds fab however the homework is to find an existing "fun" USB stick and analyse it- he has chosen a rugby ball shaped one and Ive found the manufacturer or importer I'm not sure anyway-how the heck does he go about estimating the production cost etc, I'm at a loss and this being only his 3rd week at secondary school so is he!

No idea really, but from watching The Apprentice my guess would be that Production cost would be only about 10% of RRP.

Perhaps have a look at the cost of the raw materials as well?

Are you sure it's costings etc they are asking for? Maybe they want your dc to analyse the design what makes it 'fun'?

Could be as pp said that they want him to analyse the design features rather than the actual manufacture. What does the design brief say or the actual question hes required to answer?
