hi I have a dc who is taking this course
Does anybody know what it is?
I don't think it is a GSCE or a BTEC or an A'level?
And is it worth doing?

There is something listed on the UCAS tariff points for Free Standing a mathematics Qialifications, including working with algebra.
Worth between 7 and 20 UCAS points - Could this be it?

It was a new qualification this year I think. My DD did this in June - L3. I believe it is supposed to be AS standard and covers part of C1. Pass mark was 60% and only 15% passed it. It is considered good prep for AS level. HTH.

hi
had a quick look, I couldn't find that
I will try and ask school/UCAS tomorrow

I do not understand why there is a need for so many different examination boards
and why there is a need to introduce so many new qualifications

thanks vm

My DD did it as a bridging course in yr 11 after taking gcse in yr 10 and starting AS in yr 12. She enjoyed it and it is helping massively with the AS work.

Hi op. Is your dc taking it in similar situation? If so, it will help. If they are taking it instead of a gcse or AS level then I would question it.

hi
I don't think they do AS levels at the school
dc is doing it in addition to GCSE
and I had a look at the Edexcel website and it states that it is worth 7 UCAS tariff points
thanks
