She to an A for maths, as did most of her class ( they sat it in yr 9) and have been told they all need to resit to get A. Does anyone have any experience of this. The class are all being taught additional maths as well as doing the retake. Does she need an A for university? ( she wants to teach) thanks.

If she is doing additional Maths, it really shouldn't take much extra to get her A. A is often the entry criteria to study for further Maths at A'level, as you really need to know that GCSE material very well.

I think I am going to persuade her to try. ( I think she was only 3 marks off) I don't think she wants to do A level, but she should keep her options open.
