I have a dss in year 9 (14 this year) will he have to stay in full time education till he's 18? He won't want to do A levels and would rather go to college - what else more practical can he do?

Round here, the numbers doing A levels will stay the same.
The numbers going to the technical colleges and the Countryside college are rocketing

He can start an apprenticeship at 16 or go to college to do vocational qualifications. They have to be in education or training & apprenticeships have an element if training in them. There are some really good ones out there so start looking at end if Year 10.

If he is doing paid or voluntary work for at least 20 hours a week, he only needs to be in education or training part-time alongside the work.
