Is if common to set sciences based on maths and French and Spanish based on English tests in year 7? I think this is what is happening on DD1's new school. I'm hoping this is the case, as my understanding was that they were going to be streamed and I was concerned for DD1 as her maths is not nearly as good as her English. Thanks.

Thank you. It seems she is in the second set out of 5 for languages and third set for maths/sciences. These feel about right to me as she was a high level 5 for literacy and scraped a 5 for maths (teacher assessed level 4a). The school have used their own tests though for setting, not the SAT results.
