Secondary Schools in and around Petersfield?

Does anyone know anything about the schools in and around Petersfield. The Petersfield School is a performing arts school and Perrins is a sports college but I wonder what that really means for the children who go there.

Anyone any experience or opinions?

They are both Comps : top sets equivalent to selective private school through to supportive lower sets.
The specialist status stuff is historic - both cover all subjects.
Perrins is slightly higher rated on the gossip, but neither gets slagged off too much.

Perfect, thank you, that is exactly the insider playground info I am after :)

For our local area little bits and pieces filter down, one school is caring, one school is pushy etc, but when you are looking at a new area its hard to get a feel for the general sense of a school.

I live a ways away from there but DH has worked at both schools and I work in Petersfield sometimes and of course they all feed into PSC ...
hopefully some of the East of Winchester folks will post this evening :-)

Both Alton secondaries offer excellent schooling too. Really we are very fortunate with State schools in the East Hants area.

Yes, both schools in Alton have good reputations, Amery Hill was a music specialist school and Eggars was a science one so they have good facilities for those subjects.

I am a Perins parent. Very happy with the school. Pastoral care is very good, academically on a par with Winchester secondaries, very good sport and recently (last couple of years) increasingly good arts and drama - a truly fantastic production of Les Miserables at the end of last term.
