Ummmm.....Westminster School! For boys only though, but one of the top public schools in the country.

Depends if you are talking about City of Westminster or just the area normally referred to as Westminster. Both are amazingly central so whilst there are not that many independent secondaries within the City (Portland Place, Francis Holland Regents Park, Queens College) there are a huge number within striking distance.
For example if you are in the South and you can easily get to Victoria (or Vauxhall/Waterloo) you can get to SW schools such as Putney and Wimbledon High or Emanuel. Or you can go West along the district line to Hammersmith. Lots of small littered around Chelsea and Kensington. City Boys and Girls and perennial favourites, whilst Dulwich schools run buses.

If you are living in the north of the City you have a good choice of North London schools.

In short sit down with the Good Schools Guide and TFLs journey planner. There is fantastic choice.
