schools in or near Woking Surrey

Hi all. I have just moved to woking and I am looking for a secondary school in or around woking for my daughter. At this moment Woking High, Winston Churchill and Fullbrook school all have places.

My daughter is quite shy I thought Woking High would be ideal as their ofsted had excellent for behaviour. However I went in to see them and they were promoting a day 11 thing where the whole school comes off timetable for a whole day on the 11th day of every half term. My daughter is academic and this 11th day thing really bothered me as a student at the school told me that it was basically a jolly.

Fullbrook as a high turnover of staff according to thier ofsted report and also it is a little further out, but if it is really good then I am prepared to travel. Does anyone know how many Maths and English lessons they have per week?

Winston Churchill seemed nice but they finish very early at 2.30pm. They are also a specialist sports college, my daughter is the opposite.

Any suggestions will be totally considered and appreciated as right now I am struggling to choose!

Of the three I think Fullbrook is the best regarded and plenty if kids come on the train from Woking. I know several academic kids who have gone there and find really well.

I presume you are not Catholic so SJB is out of the question?

I'd say, with limited knowledge other than hearsay, Fullbrook is the one I have heard the best things about.

With your other questions, email the Headteachers- they (should) reply.

I'm a parent at Fullbrook . Great school . always get back to you if you phone or email .My DS in year 9 going into 10 He is an academic . next year is a 6 day time table. the head well I can't speak highly enough of her aim praying she doesn't leave. they do have a medium turnover of staff but the kids seem to cope, New staff mean more enthusium. any problems I have had they have sorted out with strict efficiency. Unlike some schools their patrol care is unrivalled . I could not believe some schools don't have patrol care . So all in all Fullbrook in my mind is an excellent school .

I went to Winston (left 6yrs ago) and still have links with it.
yes they finish at half 2 but they do only get 25mins for lunch (and no morning break) so really in terms of lessons they do the same as other schools.

it is a nice school...I am not sporty at all and nor are many of the young people I know who are there currently...to be honest it doesn't make much difference other than a monthly sports assembly and more sporty awards than maybe other schools.
