Year 7 - anything the end of year report?

Just being noisy really. If your child has had their end of year reports, how did they get on? My daughter should get her end of year report today. In all her subjects there is an end of year target. I suspect she won't hit some of them and they are going to say she is too quiet in class, hopefully nothing that I don't expect, but I will post what is said later!

DS1 has had his and we are very happy, hitting most and exceeding / destroying some important ones like maths, science etc. Also just got moved up to top sets for maths/science - first day today! Lets hope it went well...

Anyway junior school was grim and he was bullied / unhappy for most of it so its great that he is getting some success. Very happy mum.

Watching with interest, my DDs Y7 report is due out at the weekend.

No idea when DS's is due although he has his end of year review with form teacher next week - do you think the report will come before or after it? I would have thought before so that they can reflect and comment upon what has been written....

We had ours already - did really well, met or exceeded targets - was a bit disappointed there were no comments other than the tutor "Well done , more of the same next year please"

Dededum it is nice to be able to relax - senior school is so different - very little communication - unless something is wrong.... Sounds like your DS is happier at senior school and doing well!!

Well we've had her report now. She hasn't met all her targets (which I suspected, apparently no one has that she knows). With the exception of a C effort in RE which she hates, she has effort grades of A and B, so can't ask much more. Her highest target achieved is science 6.25 and lowest Spanish 2.5 but they have only been taught that for six months. Not sure how this all relates to whats good and bad though. Every teacher has given her aims/tips for next year and she has glowing reports for history, science and languages which I'm surprised about as she feels she struggles in science and not bothered about languages - hopefully this will encourage her.

Sounds really encouraging - especially the effort marks!! Your school's reports sound much broader than ours - we just got effort, target and whether it was attained or not - and a short comment from her form tutor - no actual "report dialogue" at all - yours sounds good, much more communicative....

It sounds like we are lucky, every teacher has written 4-6 lines about her, I'm sure some comments must be similar to other children as it must be hard for them to vary things unless there is something specific, but you do get an overall trend. Also, its good that she has been given an aim/tip for improvement so she knows what they are looking for next year.

Obviously all schools are different, it might be yours isn't so good on reports, but perhaps deals with something else better.

Ds's report was absolutely lovely. There's a whole written page per subject teacher but with exam results as a % and a class/year placing per subject, rather than nc levels. It's a private school.

It's a bit weird not getting nc levels every half term like in (state) primary, but the personalised wording and comments on effort, behaviour, areas of academic strength and weakness and comments on his personality and socialising are so much nicer. (And I do know his levels in some subjects if they've either been stuck in the back of his book or communicated verbally. He's working at level 7 in English and Maths, 6+ in science and history, 5 in food tech and 4 in music - they're the only ones I know!)

Oh, yeah, there are written targets for improvement in every subject too which are very helpful.

DD1's report is out next week - and I am away for work so DH will see it first, and he doesn't understand NC levels as he is American!

But DD's school does do an interim report each term so we know broadly how she has been doing and she is on track to hit targets which have already been adjusted upwards twice this year. She's been told she's on the border between 6 and 7 in maths and English so we're already very pleased. DD2's report is due the same week so I am missing out big time. But they will be able to brag to me over the phone.
