OFSTED with no Year 11?

I have just had to get the phone number of a local secondary school and see that they have an OFSTED inspection today and tomorrow. Is this normal for a school to have an inspection even if all the Year 11s have left?

Yes we have just been 'ofsteded' without our year 11s

A local secondary had them in very recently too. To be honest it isn't too bad as they do have the GCSE results to see what is really going on in year 11, and can ask questions. If they have concerns they can do an interim inspection in the Autumn or Spring term.

I guess if they never inspected any school once year 11s are on study leave, inspectors would get a very long holiday, May to September...

We were classed as outstanding after being inspected with Yr11s on Study Leave and Yr10s out on Work Experience placement. Grin

And we've just been done last week without Y11.

Thanks for all replies. I await the report with interest...and there's another local school which was classed as Outstanding 6 or 7 years ago so I expect they could be "done" before the end of term. All very helpful for making the choice in October.

Ohh we are a new school so have to be done by end of sept, our head was told by an inspector that they'd moved the primaries to after ht and were doing secondaries before. We thought we were clear until Sept..

faeriefruitcake · 22/06/2013 15:57

They can come any time, let's face it by the time the're at your door most of the judgements have already been made.

A primary that I know was Ofsteded while year 6 were away on a residential. Books and records were still scrutinised... without the teachers being there the night before to have done last minute marking and editing, so it was all very genuine. They got 'Outstanding'.
