Just to ask how many have children doing thier GCSE's at the moment and hows it going?
DD2 is taking hers( she had 4 this week) and acually went and revised this afternoon without me telling her to.
She haerd this wek she has got a garenteed place in her first choice college,but to do the course she wants she needs 5 A-C's, so I think that has helped with her revising.
She seems OK about the exams but is a bit woried about maths.

DD is in Yr10 & working hard on cursework at the moment. Had a few modular exams which produced lots of stress so NOT looking forward to next year. We don't see her anymore, she just revises ALL the time!

Just wanted to wish any teens (and parents!) who have taken GCSEs, all the best for results day tomorrow

Very Freudian, Milliways - cursework

Mum - thanks! My DS 16 is out at a football match tonight and doesn't seem a bit concerned about his results. They collect them from the school rather than them arriving in the post like mine did (not sure if it's the same everywhere in England) so I won't get to hear how he's done til he decides to ring me. Of course, I'm banned from going in to school with him!

Im going to collect mine at 11 tomorrow morning, please send me hugs, I am dreading it!!! Its my first exam for 20 years.

Ooh, good luck (((hugs))) SWND (what a brilliant name - love it!) Make sure you let us know how you get on. I'm starting an AS level psychology course in Sept which will be the first time I've studied in 25 years, eek!

shewhoneverdusts "hugs" - hope you get what you want. My ds2 has just done 1 GCSE this year (Maths) all the rest next year, but I still feel very nervous for him (and me!) and the kids in the yr above. It is a really horrible feeling waiting for that phone call. My ds1 was away in Spain when his results were out, so I had to collect them - was a nervous wreck.

Sorry I am posting this on both threads, but I got an A!!!!!!!!!!!! . I am so shocked.

Of the 72 I teach all bar 2 got a to c grades. 12 got as, over 40% got an a* or an a. I am exceptionaly proud of them

Well done MB, that must make you feel so good. You have obviously done a great job with them.

They were an exceptionaly able top three sets. Tbh the A candidates would have done well if you had shut them in the cupbaord under the stairs for the last two years. One lad was so chuffed (and surprised) with his two A s in science he started to cry. I bloody nearly joined him.

They were a delight to work with, bright, hardworking and jusr so frigging nice. I couldn't believe they paid me to work with them!

I have 42 of them next year for A level, it will be a joy.

42 out of 72 doing A level seems a massive proportion - a tribute to your teaching, MB.Mind you if your teaching is as amusing as some of your posts, I'm not surprised.

Some will be coming from other classes (not many but some). I am chuffed that so many have chosen biology, but it is just such an interesting subject. Either that or they are taken by my broad welsh accent and mildly histrionic threats when they misbehave

A double C at Foundation takes real understanding of the sunjects....the odd slip and they can miss it! Well done that boy!

You are rightly proud of him..weel done. One of the results that I was happiest with was a young woman who needed a C grade, as she wants to do primary teaching. I was worried sick that she would miss the odd mark and get a D and have to resit....and she passed.
