RGS Guildford uniform question

Hi

Does anyone have sons at RGS Guildford? If so, can you tell me whether boys tend to buy the stripe-necked sweater of the plain? They say either is fine, but i'm guessing one if more usual than the other.

And do they tend to get trousers from the uniform shop or M&S?

My son is at uni now so advice may be out of date but I doubt things change that much.

DS had the grey with striped neck jumpers in year 7 but by year 11 had plain ones (can't remember when the switch was made).
Not sure if he actually wore them much from what I remember.

We got M and S trousers, either is fine though- boys can't tell the difference and don't care :)

My son had school trousers from Asda and no one noticed or if they did they didn't care and the same as Happy with the jumpers, I think they spent more time on his bedroom floor though

Hi Racingheart My DS who is in 2nd form wears the grey stripe jumper, purely because we were handed one down from a neighbour with an older son at the school. He says that it is 50/50 in his year whether they wear the stripe or plain. Of course he only wears it when it is sub-zero temperatures, as is probably true for most teenagers...
I bought the unifom trousers because DS found them the most comfortable, but it is fine to go with M & S, Tesco etc, many of his friends do.
We also (top tip!) got a blazer for £10 from the 2nd hand shop at the inducton day and he wore it quite happily for 18 months until it was outgrown.
Haven't thought about getting anything for DS2 yet, hand me downs all the way I think!

My DS wore the grey striped jumper all the way through. Some friends had the plain navy one.

One thing I can remember for sure, my DS really didn't give two hoots which jumper he wore! It just didn't matter to them. Now my girls down the road - totally different matter.......
