Emergency exam Scribe, Scotland. Is it possible?

My DD1 broke her right arm this morning!!! We're just back from the hospital.
She is 5th year and about to sit her Highers (Scotland). Her first exam is on Wednesday. She is expected to pass them but, because she had a very serious prolonged illness during Prelim Exam period of time, we do not have anything to appeal on, if she doesn't sit the Higher Exams!!

Does anyone know if it is possible to get an exam Scribe appointed, at such short notice?
Obviously I will contact school first thing tomorrow, but it would be good to have some idea of what our options might be, before I call in.

It should be possible. Although usually notifies in advance, in emergencies a later notification can be done as far as I know.

But dictating rather than writing in exam conditions takes quite a lot of getting used to. So get your DD to practice before if you can.

Rather than a scribe, would it be possible for her to type up her answers? I've known people to use laptops for some types of SEN (e.g. dyspraxia) so it may be possible.

speaking from experience in England; the school have to make contact with the board and with a doctors note then an emergency scribe is allowed - as long as its her writing hand!

I assume the school will contact the exam board. I can see that it would take practice to use a scribe, so perhaps they will allow her to type onto a laptop. Good idea, thank you.

It is her writing hand, but she generally can use both hands to type (all that time spent with a phone in one hand and an ipod in the other ) so in the morning I'll check to see if she can still type (sleeping now). If she can, I can ask the school to propose that to the exam board.
