Spanish friend's daughter coming to stay....will she be allowed to go to school with ds?

I have a spanish friend's daughter coming to stay for a few weeks in the summer. He wondered if she'd be able to go to school with ds2. Now, obviously you have no idea about this particular school, but wondered, in general, if state comprehensives are approachable about this sort of thing?!

Ds2 is in year 8 and it would only involve 2.5 days at the end of term. I think they should be alright especially as it is a language specialist school! Has anyone done this? He did want her to come over and go to school for 2 weeks, but I think that is a bit much to ask.

Where I work this would be fine as long as you ask in advance.

My step-sis offered to let dd (Italian-English) go into school with her cousin last summer. There was no prob there. I imagine it would be a lovely experience for all!

DD1 has had foreign exchange students come to class with their host dc. I should have thought the school would be delighted if they are a language specialist school.

We had a German girl stay with us. We just asked the head if she could go to school with DD (then in Year9). It was no problem. DD also went to school in Germany.

Thank you. I will write a letter tomorrow. I just wanted some reassurance that others had been given permission!

As a teacher we have had quite a few of these requests. Individual teachers are given the choice. Never heard a teacher reject request though.

Tbh it depends on the child a nice studious kid would be fine. A challenging kid would prob have request rejected.

My DCs school specifically send out a letter each year say it will refuse all such requests that are not part of one of the schools own twinning programmes. (France, Germany, India, Tanzania, Canada, Spain)

However it has a lot,of high achieving MC parents and probably gets a hundred or so such requests a year otherwise, and note everyone makes the requests at the end of the year either.

Ds2 is very studious and the girl coming to stay is the same.

100 requests a year - crickey! Ds1 is in year 10 and he doesn't know of anyone who has done this apart from the school's own organised school exchange. He said they'd say no, but I think it will be fine, especially as it's for the last 2.5 days of term and I don't think they do much.

Would be fine at our (grammar) school. We have a few students every year not part of the proper exchange programmes but who are staying with students - or staff - of the school. Obviously, the better their English, the more they will get out of the experience.
