Waiting list for secondary school

Hi, my dd didn't get her first choice secondary school, I've just been informed that she is 11th in the waiting list out of 60
I'm just wondering what your experiences are if waiting lists, where your child was and did they get in etc etc
Also if they did when were they offered places? How long will I have to be on this list?

Friend's daughter got a place at their first choice school on the penultimate day of the summer term last year after they'd bought the uniform for their allocated school. You just have to sit tight and hold your nerve I think.

A school i worked at they were still referring back to the original waiting list at the end of year 9. But that was because it was an outstanding school next to an appalling one so not a typical situation. Usually there are a couple of kids who don't turn up at the start of year 7 - usually because they have moved away or got a place somewhere else and haven't told the school.
