Ours is the last week in May this year - normally first week in June - is it the same for everyone??

Yes ours is the last week in May as well. I would have thought all secondaries would have to have to same holiday because of the GCSE timetable.

good point - just wondered because our Feb half term holiday in Gloucestershire was one week different to other counties, so was last October half term ..

It's always the last week in May, to incorporate the bank holiday. Isn't it?

ByTheWay1 · 11/03/2013 15:51

Nope - usually first week in June for us - last 3 at least - because Whit bank holiday has been 31 may/30may/4june the past 3 years and ours always has the bank holiday during the holiday week.

It is usually the first week in June, DD2's birthday is June 3rd so it was mostly in the holidays. It did flip back to the end of May 4 years ago when she sat her GCSEs so that she had 5 hours of exams on her 16th birthday - she wasn't happy!

@Bytheway that's what I meant - the week that has the last monday in May in it. The week that has the bank holiday. That's exactly the same this year, it's just that because of the way the calendar falls it;s slightly earlier than it sometimes is. It's still the week with the last monday in May though.

They moved the end of May bank holiday for the jubilee 5 years ago and gave the extra day. Did they do that last year too? Perhaps thats why the confusion?

webwiz · 11/03/2013 16:16

yes your right Russians it has the last monday in may in it so that when its 28/29/30/31st it will have the holiday mostly in June and then when its the 27th like this year the whole week is in May.

Unless we get extra bank holidays - e.g. the jubilee, it's always the week that has the last Monday in May in it.
